Film Lesson: "Gandhi"

Our class watched a film about Mohandas Gandhi. He was the man of India who helped his country gain independence from the British. He used his peaceful soul and genius ways to get what he and his country decided they didn't want to physically fight for. He was known for following civil disobedience. He organized marches and gave speeches to his people to provoke fair rights but also avoid violence. His people were beaten many times because they attempted to act violently. Gandhi was put in jail many times because of his actions. He used his own strategies to encourage the Indians to boycott British goods and he preached passive resistance so that the British wouldn't react to his act in a bad way as to handling it in a violent way and provoking the British to act violent against them also. I think that India's Independence was for the most part about Gandhi because if the Indians had tried to gain Independence on their own, they wouldn't have gotten far because they wouldn't have used the best approach as Gandhi did.
